Our Fire Prevention Bureau is charged with review and enforcement of Fire and Life Safety laws. These laws regulate the storage, use, and handling of hazardous materials; the installation and maintenance of automatic, manual and other private fire alarm systems and fire-extinguishing equipment; the maintenance and regulation of fire escapes; the maintenance of fire protection and the elimination of fire hazards on land and in buildings, structures and other property, including those under construction; the maintenance of means of egress, and the investigation of the cause, origin, and circumstances of the fire and unauthorized releases of hazardous materials.

Fire Facility Fee's are assessed by the land use authority on behalf of the LMFD for capital expenditures like new fire apparatus and fire stations. These costs are based and charged on a per square foot apportionment. Fire Facilities Fees are charged in addition to plans review, permitting, and other development business costs. San Joaquin County

- Residential $0.31/per square foot

- Commercial, Industrial $0.43/per square foot
